Abstract

The article proposes an historiographical review of the hundred years war and focuses on the treaty of Troyes which was supposed to bring peace between France and the Kingdom of England. According to the author, historians usually present only one view of the war, that the conflict aimed to the eradication of the Kingdom of France. As explained, the war started with the clash between the English king King Edward III, and the French king Philipp of Valois, and then extended to the two countries. Finally, the Treaty of Troyes, signed on may 21, 1420 which made any negotiation impossible is described as a failure.
