Abstract

An interview with embroidery artist Victoria Martini is presented. She took a course on painting and graphic arts at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, Germany and has a studio in Munich. While studying, she discovered embroidery at a time when she held a fascination with the work of artist David Hockney. She said that embroidery is still not accepted as a serious form of art in Germany so she uses it to breach serious topics in her work which are about politics and social situations.
