Abstract

The article presents a study which uses the Modelo Hidrodinâmico (MOHID) model system to assess the health, specifically of bacteria Escherichia coli contamination, of marine water bodies along the inner part of Bahía Blanca estuary. The concept of lagrangian tracers is cited to be used in evaluating the spatial-temporal evolution of pollution plume. Variability and means indicator organism counts are presented to be accurately predicted by the fate models. The model results are suggested as a useful tool for reducing pollution in the estuary.
