Abstract

Nickel coatings containing PTFE particles were prepared by high speed jet electroplating technique. The effects of co-depositing PTFE particles and deposition conditions on microhardness, microstmcture, and corrosion behavior of the coatings were investigated. Experimental results indicated that the microhardness of nickeI-PTFE composite coatings increases with the increase of jet velocity. The results concerning the amount of incorporated PTFE particles show a tendency for the volume fraction of PTFE particles to decrease with increasing jet velocity. It was found that the average grain size of nickel-PTFE composite coatings is decreased with increasing jet velocity. The composition analysis of nickel-PTFE composite coating, i. e. the presence of PTFE was proved using the method of infrared spectroscopy. The corrosion resistance was increased by the incorporation of PTFE particles into the Ni matrix. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
