Abstract

The article discusses a study on the food consumed by phyllostomid bats and the similarity of their diets to six species from the Pantanal wetlands in Brazil. It offers information on the analysis of fecal specimen from 347 captive bats conducted in 2002 to 2007. It describes the Ficus and Piper fruit species that dominate their diet and the consumption of pollen source Bauhinia ungulata by ten species of bats. It offers information on the preference of phyllostomids for pollen and fruit species.
