Abstract

This report presents the preliminary findings of a research project studying the experiences of persons completing dual degree programs in social work and divinity. The study utilized a qualitative approach with hermeneutic phenomenology as the method employed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with graduates in order to obtain thick descriptions of their experiences while in their dual degree programs. Themes emerged regarding: the general phenomenon of dual degree graduates' experiences; the forms of mentoring students find helpful and unhelpful; the challenges and rewards of field experiences; and ways to address spiritual and religious content into social work curriculum [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
