Family Caregiver Burden and Public Long-Term Care Insurance System in Japan.

The article presents several studies on the care burden and depression among family caregivers before and after the launch of a new public long-term care insurance system (LTCIS) in Japan. Findings from the studies suggested the removal of barriers for the caregivers and the frail elderly in order to use the social services under LTCIS and also educating the general public on the use of social services without any hesitation.
