Abstract

The article presents a study on the importance of soil organic carbon (OC) and clay for developments of soil functional structure. The study involved soil samples from the Long-term Research on Agricultural Systems (LTRAS) at the University of California in Davis. The results showed that the Currie tortuosity-connectivity parameter decreased with increasing bulk density in the intact samples, suggesting less tortuous and well-connected pathways for gas diffusion at higher bulk density.
