Abstract

The article offers information on the significant role of Australia in Antarctic science. It says that the involvement of Australia in scientific research in Antarctica in 80 years has been marked the time International Geophysical Year (IGY) has been proposed. It states that the support of the government to IGY Science serves as a turning point for Australia. It adds that the contributions of Australia to geology, upper atmospheric physics, and glaciology have contributed in the recognition of its significant role in Antarctic science.
