Abstract
- This article discusses the scientific experiments related to optics undertaken by Alhazen, an Arabic scientist and philosopher who lived during the 1st and 2nd centuries. The author describes the since-named Alhazen's Problem, which sought to determine the reflection point in a convex spherical mirror where the object and observer's positions are known. He also comments on Alhazen's process of solving such a problem, which was first postulated in Book V of his treatise on optics. Alhazen's influence on mathematics and philosophy is also considered.
