Abstract

An integrated engineering analysis of Pleasant Bayou geothermal-geopressured reservoir has led to the development of an internally consistent reservoir description that gives an excellent match of historical production when used with a numerical simulator. The reservoir description was developed from all available data, including geologic andgeophysical analyses, transient test analyses, and production history. A variety of evidence indicates pressure maintenance through fluidrecharge across a leaky fault; no available information contradicts this hypothesized recharge mechanism. Sources of data that led to theincorporation of a leaky fault include pseudo-steady state flow analyses, transient tests and numerical simulations. We believe this is the first analysis of a geopressured resource that provides engineering support for fluid influx as a pressure support mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
