Abstract

The article reports on the efforts in New Hampshire and Maryland to pass or amend laws that favor the use of thermal renewable energy in the states. It says that the Biomass Thermal Energy Coalition (BTEC), which includes New England Wood Pellets (NEWP) general manager Charlie Niebling, was instrumental in modifying New Hampshire law. It states that New Hampshire will already require the use of thermal energy to meet its renewable portfolio standard (RPS). It mentions that the date by which Maryland must meet its two percent solar energy requirement by two years has been pushed up by the legislature.
