The article reports on a colloquium on non-governmental, personal, and family archives in public archives, which was held at the archives of Institut für Zeitgeschichte (Institute of Contemporary History) in Munich, Germany. Topics discussed included the provenance and appraisal of non-state archival material, legal issues involved in the collection of use of personal papers, and cooperative collection development among municipal, regional, and national archives.
