Abstract
- The article discusses the attitude of the late U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt toward the U.S. railroad industry during his presidency. The article discusses Roosevelt's view of capitalism as related to the railroad industry, particularly the industry's symbolism of the U.S. transition from an agrarian to an industrial society in the early 20th century. The article also discusses Roosevelt's ideas of morality business speculation, and masculinity as related to the railroad industry. The article also examines Roosevelt's personal history of utilizing the railroads.
