Abstract

The article discusses a study on the long-term outcome of stents as compared to bypass surgery in diabetic and nondiabetic patients with multivessel or left main coronary artery disease (CAD). It shows in the results that patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have higher risk of repeat revascularization than those who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). It also stresses the need for the reassessment of treatment effects of CABG and PCI.
