Mouth cancer awareness: what's at stake?

The author recounts her experience of being an oral cancer survivor. She says that the squamous cell carcinoma that developed in her cheek and gums was in Stage 4 by the time he was diagnosed with the disease. She underwent radical surgery and aggressive radiotherapy and stayed for more than nine weeks in hospital.
