Abstract
- The article examines the troubled economic state of Detroit, Michigan in 2012 and whether it can still recover. According to the author, Detroit's population reached its peak at around two million after World War II, slid below one million by the turn of the 21st century, and was 714,000 in the 2010 census. The author notes that Detroit boomed as a city of single-family houses with few concentrations of apartments or townhouse living.
