Abstract
- The article reports on lawsuits filed against the Arizona Department of Corrections for the collection of a background check fee and the charge of one percent on deposits made to prisoner's accounts. It is noted the complaint of Donna L. Hamm, executive director of Middle Ground Prison Reform, that argued the legality of the fee as it is the state government's responsibility to pay for maintenance. Another complainant added that the visitation fee could negatively affect public safety.
