Geographic Disparities in the Incidence and Outcomes of Hospitalized Myocardial Infarction Does a Rising Tide Lift All Boats?

The article presents a research study that examines regional differences in recent trends in myocardial infarction (MI) incidence as well as regional disparities in MI care. A comparison of trends in the utilization of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across geographic regions is described along with the estimate and comparison of rates of change in the incidence of MI. Assessment as to whether geographic differences in MI care have widened or narrowed over the study period is discussed.
