Abstract

The author explains why it would be a poor idea to rein in distance in golf. A survey by Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Tour identified the places where golfers prefer to play. The author disagrees with the proposal of golfer Arnold Palmer in 2005 to reduce distance on tour by 20 percent. He cites the case of his late father as an example of a non-professional golfer who took pride with getting enough yards on tour despite his old age.
