HEMATOLOGIC AND SERUM BIOCHEMICAL VALUES OF GRAVID FRESHWATER AUSTRALIAN CHELONIANS.

The article presents a study which performed hematologic and serum biochemical analyses on wild-caught, gravid, Australian freshwater chelonians, particularly long-necked turtles Chelodina (C.) oblonga, common long-necked turtles C. longicollis, and Murray River turtles Emydura macquarii. Erythrocyte morphology for all species was typical of that previously described in chelonians. The observed eosinophilia in parasitized C. longicollis may reportedly be associated with hemoparasitism.
