Abstract

The article discusses the Shaanxi-Beijing natural gas pipeline in China in relation to energy cost. The said pipeline is reportedly the first one that uses intermediate compressor stations and has a capacity of around 3.6 bcm/year. Its compressors in Yingxian uses electricity thus minimizing total energy cost for a unit of time. The mainline uses the gun-barrel system which addresses power optimization through dynamic programming under steady-state operation.
