Abstract
- The article analyzes some of the mechanisms used in the production of illuminated manuscripts in the eighteenth-century Brazil from the perspective of the dialogues regarding dissemination of iconographic patterns established between the Portuguese Court and the Colony. The author is supported by information contained in the "Livros de Compromisso" (commitment books) of the lay brotherhoods. Topics on circulation of ideas are discussed.
