Gene Patents: A Trans-Tasman Approach in Light of the TRIPs Agreement.

In this article, the author reflects on the approach of Australia and New Zealand regarding gene patents in accordance with the trans-Tasman agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs). It informs that both countries have adopted different approach regarding the patents related to genes and other biological materials. It highlights that the Australian Patents Act includes therapeutic and surgical methods for the treatment of humans.
