Abstract

The article discusses the court case U.S. v. Reynolds wherein police seized a woman's firearms from a compartment in her headboard without asking her permission to look inside. The defendant was convicted on two firearm charges and appealed, stating that she did not clearly give her consent for the search. The First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that the search was lawful because she gave implied consent. The First Circuit also evaluated mental competency.
