Abstract

The article describes the traits of a novel alloherpesvirus that infect Atlantic cod. The study was performed on Atlantic cod samples using methods including histopathology, transmission electron microscopy, and virus isolation, where the former technique showed that the novel alloherpesvirus spreads to the gills of the cod. Results of the study explained the discovery of Gadid herpesvirus 1, which will be considered for recognition by the International Committee on the Taxonomy of Viruses.
