THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION: THE PATRIOTS FIGHT FOR FREEDOM.

Enraged by the heavy taxation imposed by the British Parliament, the 13 British colonies in America went to war against Great Britain in the spring of 1775. Contrary to British expectations, the war went on for a long time. In July 1776, the Americans issued the Declaration of Independence. In early 1777, the British planned a three-pronged attack to gain control of New York and isolate the New England colonies from the rest.
