Abstract
- The article discusses a study aimed at determining whether the high genetic connectivity encountered between Pacific populations also happen in the smaller SW Indian Ocean (SWIO) region and focuses on the reef fish Myripristis berndti in the SWIO. Samples of Myrispristis berndti were taken through spearfishing or bought from fishermen at landing sites. The study offered crucial information regarding the restricted connectivity in the SWIO and highlights the importance of using both kind of genetic markers to discriminate the history of past colonisation from newer connectivity.
