Abstract
- The article discusses the extension of overtime and minimum wage protections to home health aides and personal care assistants under the new U.S. Labor Department rules. It notes that workers providing none medical assistance who were classified as companions have been excluded from federal overtime pay and minimum wage protections since 1975. It points out that Medicare and Medicaid have covered payments for home assistance work.
