Abstract

The article presents information on a study on how the introduction of 80 "pejerrey" Odontesthes bonariensis from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Arroio Grande, Brazilto increased its local production by using microsatellite markers. Genetic differentiation of the studied population can reportedly be used as a basis for future genetic improvement programs and the markers will be used as base-population in genetic breeding already in progress.
