Abstract

Chapter XII of the book "Blurring Boundaries: Developing Writers, Researchers, and Teachers: A tribute to William L. Smith," edited by Peggy O'Neill is presented. It offers an account of the formation of Department of Language Education Field Center at University of Georgia, as well as William L. Smith's work at the center. It explains the benefits of the center to teacher educations as well as Smith's insistence on being on site in the public schools.
