Abstract

The article examines the potential risk factors, clinical manifestations and diagnostic strategies for postnatal tuberculosis (TB) affecting infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the U.S. It says that mycobacterium TB bacilli, the microbes that cause TB, impacts more than two billion people in the world, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It relates that foreign-born individuals account for almost 60% of TB incident in the U.S.
