Abstract
- The article reports on the role of law enforcement agencies as the first responders in situations involving mental health crises. It states that Pharr, Texas Police Chief Ruben Villescas has received the Law Enforcement and Behavioral Health Leadership Award from the Tropical Texas Behavioral Health Center. It also discusses the national summit in 2010 initiated by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) on mental health issues in law enforcement.
