Abstract

The article discusses a research study on antidepressants and its efficacy for the treatment of late-life major depressive disorder (MDD). Study subjects include elderly and late-life patients with MDD in a randomized placebo-controlled trials for antidepressants including amitriptyline, imipramine and clomipramine and compared them with various studies. Conclusions indicated there is antidepressant efficacy in late-life MDD and reduced efficacy in MDD patients 65 years old and older.
