Abstract
- The article examines the patents of Facebook Inc. and the intellectual property law which will create uncertainty for social networking sites due to the difference between the U.S. and China. It notes that the complexity of software and business process patents is designed for an industrial era making it insufficient to create the certainty needed by businesses. It concludes that since the U.S. approach may be less productive, software patents are not needed for a viable information technology.
