Transatlantic Football: Rethinking the Transfer of Football from Europe to the USA, c.1880-c.1930s.

This article discusses the movement of the sport of football, also known as soccer, from Europe to the United States. A focus on the "mainstream" status of the transfer of soccer to the United States does not provide a full picture of the results. Reasons that the game is accepted at the cultural fringes despite its lack of broad support are given.
