Abstract

This article discusses the sole investiture of executive, legislative, and judicial authority in the king under modern the modern French monarchy. The effects of this lack of separation of powers of authority is shown in the system of "field marshal's" who were delegated the political authority of the king where he could not be present. This group of political agents is examined through several scriptures which illustrate the ties that they had with the king, and how issues of the projection of power were handled.
