Abstract

The article presents a study which investigates the prevalence of infectious disease in a feral cat population on Prince Edward Island, Canada. The study examined 96 feral cats from the said area and determined the prevalence of chosen infectious agents. Results show that prevalence rates were 5.2% for feline immunodeficiency virus. And 3.1% for Mycoplasma haemofelis, and 3.1% for feline leukemia virus. However flea infestation is not linked with any of the infectious agents.
