Abstract
- The article focuses on the practice among American Indians to hold powwows across the U.S. in celebration of their heritage. It notes that such gatherings are held in the spring, summer and fall. It adds that powwows used to be held within tribes but has evolved to become inter-tribal and open to individuals not from the American Indian nation. The National Powwow takes place every three years and involves singing, drumming and other traditional activities.
