Occurrence and Distribution of Microflora in the Gut Regions of the Variegated Grasshopper Zonocerus variegatus (Orthoptera: Pyrgomorphidae) during Development.

The article presents a study which investigates the occurrence and distribution of microflora during the post embryonic development in the gut regions of variegated grass hopper Zonocerus variegatus. The study employs surface-sterilization, dissection of insects and the developmental stages were analyzed through analysis of variance. Results show that no bacterium was found in the microbial load count of the gut or gutwall of 1st instars of Zonocerus variegatus.
