Abstract

The article discusses the significance of celebrity based on a study at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles led by professors Leo Braudy, Elizabeth Currid-Halkett, Martin Kaplan and Karen Sternheimer. Sternheimer considers fame as an evolving representation of a better life. Currid-Halkett views celebrity as an expression of economics, geography and networking strategies. Kaplan explains the popularity of the Kardashians particularly the sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney.
