Abstract
- The article reports on the amended election rules of the ruling military council of Egypt regarding the ban on the use of religious slogans. It also notes the demand of the members of the former ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) to be allowed to run in the 2012 elections as officials mull a draft law that could see them banished from politics for a decade. Meanwhile, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi decided to end military trials for civilians once the state of emergency was raised.
