Abstract

The article discusses research on the relation between muscular strength and metabolic risk factors. Researchers studied whether cardiorespiratory fitness and muscular strength are associated with metabolic risk factor independently of abdominal adiposity in Japanese men and women. The methods in measuring the fatness and muscular strength of subjects are described. It is concluded that physical fitness seems more important in women than in men in preventing metabolic syndrome.
