Abstract
- The article discusses the Civil War history in Texas. It relates that on May 13, 1865, the troops of Confederate commander John S. Ford advanced on the troops of the Union Army. It states that throughout the war, the state had to face an ongoing threat from Indians. It says that the war claimed its final life in the state almost 145 years following the Appomattox Campaign when a man from Victoria, Texas drowned on January 1, 2010 after hitting the Confederate's Mary Summers vessel.
