Abstract

A biography of 10th President of the U.S. John Tyler is presented. He was born in Virginia on March 29, 1790 and graduated at William and Mary College and became a lawyer. He won a seat in the legislature of Virginia when he was 21 years old, served as governor of Virginia and married Letitia Christian in 1813. As a president, he offered for joint efforts to stop the slave trade, brought about the annexation of Texas and created a treaty with Texas in 1844.
