Abstract

The article presents information on a study which investigated an epidemic of infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) in layer chickens in Tripoli, Libya. ILT is a highly contagious acute respiratory disease of chickens that may lead to high mortality and reduce egg production. It describes in detail the materials and methods used in the study. Observed clinical signs were moist rales, coughing and gasping. Findings revealed the efficacy of ELISA test as indicator of ILT infection.
