Abstract

The article explores the current distribution of freshwater opossum shrimp Mysis Salem in Ireland. Results reveal that M. Salem was recorded from eight lakes and two unique groups were detected in each lake, juvenile and adults. Based on its deep-water habitat, M. Salem has been under-recorded in Ireland, and its distribution may extend to other Irish lakes. The abundance of M. Salem in most lakes seem low and its status may be threatened by such factors as climate change.
