Abstract
- The article describes an edited version of blade element momentum theory (BEMT) that allows for greater variation in the permissible inflow conditions. Particular focus is given to inflow conditions that illustrate turbulence in coastal waters. The power output and other performance parameters of tidal stream turbines (TST) is calculated. The significance of preliminary results of a representation of a turbulent tidal stream or marine current is discussed.
