Model Tests and Numerical Analyses for Parametric Roll Assessment of a Large Container Carrier.

The article discusses a study which assessed parametric roll phenomenon for modern container vessels using model tests and numerical analyses. The tests were conducted in the deep water towing tank of Hyundai Maritime Research Institute (HMRI) and composed of free roll decay tests in calm water, regular head wave tests and irregular head wave tests. Numerical simulations were done using an American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) seakeeping program wherein the impulse response function method is used.
