Prediction of Floating Platform Mooring Responses in South China Sea.

The article presents nonlinear hull/mooring/riser coupled dynamic analyses of a truss spar designed for 1,500-meter depth in the time domain to determine the global performance of deepwater floating system in South China Sea. It emphasizes the importance of the dynamic behavior of mooring chains, wires and multi-component lines in designing offshore mooring system. It concludes that changes in mooring line pre-tension influences both the maximum tension and stress amplitude of mooring line.
